year one

Last year {on this weekend} Justin and I married in a picturesque eastern coastal town that we quickly fell in love with after spending two weeks exploring all that Wilmington had to offer two years prior. Twenty five of our closest friends and family members enjoyed a weekend on the beautiful beaches of NC, experienced a haunted pub crawl lead by the fearless {and very enthusiastic} Digby, PBR ran through our veins, where we all squeezed {and I’m sure exceeded optimum capacity} in a Matrix, and foosball entertained the guys for hours on end {the list can go on and on and on but I’ll stop}.

Justin and I spent months contemplating on where, when and how we should get married. Knowing we wanted a small, intimate feel with only those we love the most in this world in attendance, we decided {after the idea of Mexico began to sound too predictable and all the venues around Austin started to look the same} on Wilmington. It took no time at all for us to then decide on… when: whenever the Airlie Gardens had an availability, where: ceremony under the 400 yr old oak tree and reception at Level 5, how: with the help of Courtney at Stellar Events. To make a long story short, Sunday, May 31, 2009, {our wedding day} was perfect. I wouldn’t change a thing and would love to relive it every day for my life. Our BIG day was featured on Style Me Pretty… enjoy the photos here, here and here {oh, and our day afters here} and have a fantastic weekend. I’ll see you Tuesday!

marfa, on my mind

A lonely, quaint and dusty western town turned hip and stylish destination spot for artists and yuppies alike. For some reason Marfa has been on my mind and topic of conversations with friends as of late so, what the heck, why not use the charming town as inspiration…

escapes

Growing up I had a tree house where all the “cool” neighborhood girls would gather to meet and discuss very important happenings in our cul-de-sac. Of course, boys were not allowed so my brother and his friends would find a way to reclaim their boys-only tree house-- usually with the threat and use of super soakers. Not cool. I have a feeling if I had decorated the tree house with frilly, flowery fabrics us girls would have had no interruptions from silly boys. If only…

a mister's {early} bday

May 31. My hub’s birthday.
May 31. Our wedding anniversary.

Although he says that I’m the best birthday gift he has ever received, I still can’t help but feel sad that his day of birth is now over shadowed by our anniversary. This is why this weekend I am taking him on a little Cen-Tex getaway in {early} celebration of him turning two-eight. I can’t wait to run away with the man of my dreams, keeper of my heart, and generally awesome human being. happy birthday to you my love. big xoxo's.

a floral explosion

Talk about inspiration overflow! Pretty, sweet, and simply stunningly lovely...

madd hatter

I’ll probably never shake my infatuation with hats. Vintage inspired hats in particular…

soothing eye candy

A treat for certain, that I couldn't contain! Isn't this pastel-n-sorbet hued NoaNoa lookbook so calm and beautiful? Blossom pink and coral, sugary sweet blue, fresh white, cheery yellow and green, orchids, and seaside charm...I long for those easy, breezy, wind-blown hair days and the sound of waves...

This post may be three days past due, but I’m back to share my top favs from Austin’s first Renegade Art Fair. Here we go…

My best friend {Ashley} would have swooned and drooled and then eventually purchased one of these former Argentinean bus seats turned bags.

Over three years ago my mister and I took a road trip to NC, stopping in small towns along the way. In a small boutique in Savannah, GA I spotted a koi fish {major obsession at the time, btw} necklace well over $100. To surprise me he bought it and I wore that fish like it was going out of style. So you could imagine how ecstatic I was when I spotted {and bought} this for only $25.

There is no doubt if I had a baby she would be wearing this or he would be sleeping in a room with these on the wall.

Yes, I did. I splurged and got one of these. And I don’t regret it, not one bit!

Clean, fresh, whimiscal = Leah Duncan’s art. Check out her custom made invitations… she did mine.

Pretty illistrations.

craft-aholic

At last! Friday has come back around! And I am soooo excited because this Saturday and Sunday Austin is holding its first ever Renegade Craft Fair. You can bet I will be there... both days. If I was allowed I’d probably sleep there too, in hopes of osmoses-ly absorbing all the craft, design and art knowledge, as well as tips and tricks of the indie- craft superstars. In between vendor booth hopping and shopping, be sure to stop by the free workshops and DIY demostrations held throughout the two days of craft-mania. I'll see you there!

a deco inspiration

Mirrors, silhouettes, blacks, whites, silver accent pieces, pops of color… yep, I’m starting to see the stylish theme of Art Deco making its way into weddings. If you had asked me a year ago and I would have cringed at the thought, but today I’m all for it.

eagle fight never dies

It’s that time of year when Senior students gather on the football field dressed in their blue (bright, shiney blue) gowns, waiting for 600 other student names to be called, then grab their graduation cap and throw it in the air. Fair warning: the cap throwing never works like it does in the movies, not all students throw the hat at the same time. Some too early, some way too late. So don’t expect too much from this must-do tradition! Just walk with your head held high as you accept that special piece of paper, you made it through some really awkward years and the best are still to come. Congratulations to all our 2010 Georgetown High School graduates! This one’s for you!

a pretty mess

Oh my! Mayhem! Between the beginning of wedding season and the rush of graduation parties, things have been pleasantly hectic around here. The shop is an organized mess as a ten foot colonnade stands in the middle, consuming the beautiful space. I guess I’ll “allow” Justin to gawk at his handy work for another day before the colonnade finds a new home, far away from my lovely room. Last week I cheated you all out of my third obsession and I sure do apologize for that, but I will make it up to you. To be reviled this week: my third but definitely not last current obsession, a Fightin’ Eagle tablescape for all you Georgetown graduates and an Art Deco inspiration board. Stay tuned…

fun finds friday

Yesterday was crazy, so please pardon my absence in the blogosphere.

It’s finally Friday and so far so GREAT! While running errands this morning I turned my radio way up while listening to the Backstreet Boys and Nsync (may you RIP) back to back, I’m wearing my favorite new outfit (this with a silk tank from Madewell, dark jeans and grey slide-ons) and as I was catching up on my blog stalking for the week I discovered these fun finds…

how cute are these?!

the allure of stripes

“yikes, stripes...Fruit Stripe Gum... the yummy fruity one... a pocket full of fun”… I’m the only one that thinks of this jingle when the word “stripes” is spoken?! More than likely I am, but that’s okay. I loved that gum growing up! The product proudly holds claim that it is the only gum with painted-on stripes. Completely notorious for its strong but fleeting flavor. Maybe it was my childhood of stuffing my face with Fruit Stripe Gum that triggered my current obsession with stripes. Whatever it was, or is, stripes are fantastic just see for yourself…

a minty fixation

I often notice the decorative accents in a clothing store before the clothes themselves. I know weird, right?! Anthropologie is the #1 store where I find myself admiring and investigating the instillations while the clothing take a backseat to the undeniably awing window creations. But I must have been a little off this weekend, because as I entered Madwell I walked passed installments of hot air balloons made out of scarves. Yeah, I simply walked on passed what I thought was my current obsession until my husband eagerly pointed them out. They were nothing short of awesome.

Since that day I started to reevaluate my list of obsessions. After narrowing it down to three current favorites I decided to share through inspiration boards. Today, mint. The color some people may refer to as seafoam has topped my list of current loves. This color will certainly find its way into my closet, tablescapes and home décor very soon.

inside edition

Just as I predicted, the weekend passed by way too fast. But I still enjoyed the short lived relaxation of the days spent dining out on SoCo, shopping, searching for our next home and basking in the fantastic weather before it becomes too hot to bare! Now back to weddings, parties and my favorite part of it all: being creative.

Two weeks have passed, so I figured it was finally time to share some photos from our grand opening. Enjoy!
