pretty paper

Our shopping spree was unbelievably worth the trip. You all will be chomping at the bits to rent our newest found vintage pieces—two of which have already found themselves in one lucky bride’s wedding! Until the big reveal {in the next few weeks}, let’s talk about wedding day décor nuts and bolts…

Linens and flowers are necessary elements in wedding day décor to help set the tone and style. But aside from the two most important elements of a wedding, I hold two more essentials in high regards. ONE: The use of items in unconditional ways and TWO: Pretty little details. I think these pretty paper details over both essentials oh-so well…

discovering treasures

Have you met Emily Henderson? No, you say? Well, you should! I am in TOTAL adoration of Emily and her boho chic style. Today, my inner E. Henderson will take over as I sift through 34 acres of old, grungy antiques under large tents, making deals while growing Sweet Sunday Events’ specialty rental collection. Be sure to check back for our found treasures—you won’t want to miss it!

cute clutches

I’m totally an old lady in a young person jumpsuit. I’m telling you, I love eating an early dinner, floral patterns, shiny accents; I hate loud noises, disrespectful kids and my back aches after long days at the shop and working weddings. I also love these clutches, which I’m sure my Grandmother would approve of, too…

ocd tendencies

I don’t set my alarm clock on an even number and I have to turn the TV volume up in increments of 5. I don’t eat at restaurants with hand written signs posted on the windows, but I don’t think twice about eating at a Mexican restaurant when there are photos of their foods on the menu—yes, please. Thanks to the movie, Copycat, I have been scared for life-- never do I use a public restroom without thinking Harry Connick Jr. might murder me. Bizarre, I know!

And I never, ever feel 150% about the outcome of a floral order until I hear those magical works uttered from a bride’s mouth… “The arrangements were all that I imagined and more. My guests couldn’t stop raving about beautiful they were.” … that’s when I am completely content. Congrats to Grace and Chris! Married just this past Saturday with a absolutely stunning reception at Mandola’s Estate Winery in Driftwood. We wish you two all the best!

{please excuse the photo quality! Hopefully I'll be able to share the professional shots later:)}

cuffed beauties

I can't believe it, but it almost happened. I almost fell out of love with Anthropolgie last week after coming across a pair of jeans for $550. I mean, I realize Americans are a little out of touch with reality when it comes to the consumption of materialistic items, but my goodness, $550 for a pair of jeans with a 10K button is completely overboard. BUT then, as my astonishment subsided, I was quickly won over again with these beautiful cuffs… I want, I neeeed!

seasonal transition

Do you find the transitions between seasons as difficult as I do? I mean really, I stand in my completely full-no room for one more item of a closet for about ten minutes each morning agonizing over what to wear. I feel like I’m in ¾ length limbo right now. It’s too warm to wear my go to cardigans and not quite hot enough to wear sleeveless tops {nor do my upper arms, which haven’t seen the light of day in months, approve of this look yet}. Let me cut to the chase. As I have “issues” with clothing, I also find that I have troubles of letting go of colors associated with previous season. So, here’s my compromise—as Spring has sprung, I’ve invited {with open arms—well, kinda, maybe just one arm} brighter colors into my world, but still stickin’ to my darks for a few more months—

understated elegance

Soft and romantic, comfortable and cool… gosh, I just adore braids! Whether it’s a night at the ballet, an impromptu visit to your favorite dive bar, just lounging around the house or at a wedding (oooo, yes, perfect for a wedding)… braids have no bias…

upgrade: sign in table

It stood strong in an aqua color under a burlap tent with strips of fabric above and a long table decked out with delicate flowers in mason jars. Since that day it has quickly become one of our most popular specialty rental pieces. You know what I’m talking about… the sign in table! It’s a beautiful, one of a kind piece now, but a month ago you wouldn’t have given it a second look. Don’t believe me? Just see for yourself…

See, I told you so! You, too, can rent it for your event for just $20.

So you say you've been too busy to stop by our bridal shows in Austin or Georgetown? Well, no worries! Here's a glimpse into what you missed out on...

the wonder of spray paint

We did it at the bridal show, it was a hit and now I’m officially obsessed… I can’t get enough of spray painted foliage, pods and succulents. The color of flowers are unpredictable, at times reds are deep but a few months later the same flower will look more pink… but here’s the perfect way to be in control of color whenever you want. Such a cool, fun and interesting way to bring in your exact shade of red—no matter what time of year!

your best shot

Did you stop by Jackson Wright Photography’s interactive booth on Sunday? If you did, lucky you, bet you can’t wait to receive your photo! And if you didn’t, boy you missed out. It was great… the colorful backdrop with a pretty little Victorian couch and a picture frame to border your gorgeous face. I’m dying to see a sneak peek!

Well, it’s a known fact that I stalk blogs on a regular basis and I’m not at all ashamed of it. I have always loved everything pretty about design, apparel, colors and weddings, but I have a newly found affection for photography. Not to the point that I want to pick up a camera and shoot away, but I enjoy coming across the perfect shot. The perfect shot that makes me pause and think, “I’ve never seen that before and why didn’t I do that at my wedding?”! Here are a few of those shots that you should totally add to your list of must have poses for your photographer’s file…
